In an effort to stay in the forefront of compliance of the new OSHA Silica Dust laws, Western States Tool is pleased to offer the TX-DCS3 Portable Dust Collection System. Made by Texas Pneumatic, this new offering is cart mounted and offers up a new, convenient solution for those difficult high-volume applications. This portable Dust Collection System (3") is made to conform to OSHA Directive 1926.1153 for Crystalline Silica containment. The TX-DCS3 has no moving parts and is powered only by air pressure. It utilizes a venturi air horn mounted to a large custom exhaust shroud which can be easily placed directly in front of your work. This combination allows quick and efficient extraction of Silica dust generated from larger air tools such as rivet busters, chipping hammers, rock drills and paving breakers. The unit is equally effective with saws and smaller electric power tools as well.

Included is an 8" diameter 30' long ducting hose which allows this unit to be easily relocated anywhere nearby. Lock the brakes on the rolling cart mounted system, position the shroud, and turn on your 50-cfm air supply and you are ready to go. The two-stage HEPA filtration system makes quick work of all the contaminants and keeps your job site safe and in compliance. When full, the collection bins are easily accessible so down time is kept to an absolute minimum.

Western States Tool is pleased to offer these units in stock, ready for immediate delivery. The TX-DCS3 is available to check out in our showroom any time. We can also bring a unit to your location for demonstration simply by calling us to schedule at a time convenient for you. Please let us know if you would like more information on this or any other products.

As of September 23, 2017, the new OSHA regulations involving silica dust safety will be put into place. Silica dust causes numerous health issues, and since so many materials on an average construction site contain this carcinogen, it is important that businesses take precautions. Investing in the right silica dust collection system can provide numerous benefits to both employers and staff.

In order to maintain compliance with the new OSHA silica dust regulations, the right dust collection systems and personal protection equipment will be required. Beginning in September 2017, a revised Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) will be in place, setting that limit to 50 micrograms per cubic feet of air, averaged over an eight-hour work day. The construction industry will need to comply with this standard, and silica dust collection systems can ensure jobsites stay within this limit.

Silica dust exposure has been linked to many adverse health effects to workers in the construction industry. As a human carcinogen, breathing in silica dust has been connected to a variety of long-term health issues, the most common of which is silicosis. When workers breathe in silica dust, the lungs may develop scar tissue that impairs the organ’s ability to take in oxygen. Severe cases can be fatal, and unfortunately, there is no known cure at this time. Lung cancer, Tuberculosis, and Kidney disease have also been linked to Silica dust exposure.

There is no better time to invest in a new silica dust collection system then now. As the impending OSHA regulations draw closer, you don’t want to get caught being non-compliant. Western States Tool offers a wide selection of silica dust collection equipment and accessories. We can help you get compliant before the September 23, 2017 deadline arrives.
